3D printed masks and cosplay helmets: what are they for?

  • Cosplay and conventions : Your character's helmet at the right scale, comfortable enough to wear all day around a convention hall. One we have made: the White Rabbit's head from Devil May Cry.
  • Stage and theatre companies : A light mask that lets the voice through and survives rehearsals. We can make several identical copies for a cast.
  • Carnival and parties : A carnival mask that stands out, printed to fit your face rather than one size fits all.
  • Halloween : A skull, a creature, a horror helmet: we start from an existing model or from your sketch.
  • Armour pieces : A mask rarely comes alone. Shoulder pieces, chest plates and matching accessories can be printed in the same material and finish.

A 3D printed mask in your size: the measurements we need

A badly fitted mask slips, presses on your nose or blocks your view.

For a helmet, send your head circumference measured just above the eyebrows, the height from chin to crown and the width from ear to ear. For a face mask, add the distance between your pupils, the width of your face at the cheekbones and the distance from forehead to chin.

A front and side photo with a tape measure in shot helps us check. If you wear glasses or a big wig under the helmet, say so: we'll leave room.

For the design itself, you can start from an STL file you bought or downloaded, images of the character or a sketch. If you send a file, we check it before printing and tell you if anything needs fixing or scaling.

From your measurements to the finished mask

  1. Measurements and references : You send your measurements, images of the character or your file, and what it's for: stage, convention or a night out.
  2. 3D model to approve : We fit the model to your head, position the eye openings and split the large pieces. You approve the model before printing.
  3. Printing : The mask is printed in PLA or PETG depending on its use. Large helmets are printed in several pieces, then assembled and glued.
  4. Finish and comfort : Depending on the level you choose: sanding, primer, paint. For fit and comfort (foam, straps), tell us how you plan to wear it and we'll allow for it in the 3D model.
  5. Fitting or delivery : Collect it from the workshop in the Minimes district of Toulouse, or we post it to you by Mondial Relay or Colissimo, anywhere in France.

Cosplay masks: three levels of finish

You decide how far the workshop goes and what you keep for yourself.

PETG handles the heat of a car in midsummer or a stage spotlight better than PLA. Tell us where the mask will be worn and we'll pick the material accordingly.

LevelWhat you receiveChoose it if…
RawPrinted and assembled parts, supports removed. Layer lines are visible. You're used to sanding and filling yourself.
Sanded and primedSanded surface, flaws filled, a coat of primer. All that's left is painting. You want to paint the mask your way, without the longest part of the job.
PaintedFully painted in the workshop from your references. You want a mask ready to wear on convention day or opening night.

Full-size cosplay helmets and masks for a whole cast

A full-size helmet like the Stormtrooper or the deer skull doesn't come off the printer in one piece. We split it into sections with locating joints so they glue back in line, then work the seams with sanding and primer so they disappear under the paint.

For a theatre company or a group parading together at carnival, we print the same mask several times, each one fitted to its wearer's head. Send everyone's measurements in a single message with the matching names: we mark each mask on the inside so nobody swaps them backstage.

Working on the armour, weapon or props to go with it? Tell us in the same message. Online orders are delivered within France; if you live in another country, ask us first whether shipping is possible and what it costs. You can write to us in English.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to send for a custom mask?

Your head circumference and a few face measurements, images of the character or your STL file, and what the mask is for. A front and side photo with a tape measure in shot helps a lot.

Do you sell STL files of masks?

No, we deliver the printed, finished mask. If you've already bought a file, we print it to your size.

Will the mask fit me?

Yes: the model is scaled to your measurements and the eye openings are placed to suit your face. You approve the 3D model before printing.

Can I see and breathe properly inside it?

We size the eye openings and add ventilation where the design allows. Tell us if you need to speak, sing or move a lot, as on stage.

Is the mask sturdy?

Printed in PLA or PETG with thick walls, it lasts through a day at a convention and plenty of handling. Like any rigid mask, a fall onto a thin edge can damage it.

Can you paint the mask?

Yes, that's the painted finish. You can also have it sanded and primed and paint it yourself.

How long does a mask or helmet take?

It depends on the size, the number of pieces and the finish. The timescale is on the quote, so give us the date of your convention or show from the start.

Do you deliver outside Toulouse?

Yes, anywhere in France by Mondial Relay or Colissimo, well padded in its box. For another country, contact us first. In Toulouse, you can also collect it from the workshop.
